Learn to play Chess well enough to enjoy it! As a pastime chess gives lasting pleasure because of its unending variety. It can also be fun! Please join our informal and welcoming sessions. The text used is the classic ‘Chess Made Easy’ by Cecil Purdy and Gary Koshnitsky (both Australian Chess Champions 1930s-40s). For illustrative purposes we replay and discuss games from the archives of chess history. We also review positions of our own games and regularly do exercises. After a year’s study students can expect to play a reasonable game of chess.
It’s never too late to learn to play the noblest and most popular board game in the world!
